Experience Superior Performance with Mopani Wood for Your Cue
Mopani wood is known for its hardness and durability, making it a popular choice for making pool cues. This hardwood has a Janka hardness rating of 1925, which is higher than most other woods used for pool cues. The density of Mopani wood also helps to prevent warping, ensuring that your pool cue remains straight and true for many years.
The Beauty of Mopani Wood Grain
The unique grain patterns of Mopani wood make each pool cue crafted from this wood a one-of-a-kind work of art. The wood's natural coloration ranges from golden browns to deep reds and can be enhanced by finishing with a clear coat to bring out the depth and beauty of the grain.
The Sustainability of Mopani Wood
Colophospermum Mopane trees are native to Southern Africa and are considered a sustainable resource for the pool cue industry. The trees grow slowly, producing dense and durable wood that is harvested without causing damage to the environment or the trees themselves.
The Craftsmanship of Mopani Pool Cues
Crafting a pool cue from Mopani wood requires skilled craftsmanship and attention to detail. That is why it’s the best wood to use if you want to showcase your talent as an artisan who takes pride in creating high-quality, custom pool cues.
Material:
Mopani - Colophospermum sp.
Mopani heartwood is brown to reddish, the thin sapwood is yellow to light brown. The wood is very hard and heavy. It doesn't split or slit easily, the oily content of the wood might explain this worthwhile characteristic. The tone is as rich and powerful as Blackwood, but is a little bit warmer. It resembles the tone of the commercially extinct Cocus wood. Its high density, light sound and workability make it an attractive alternative to Blackwood.
