Flat laminated and 8 piece radially laminated dowels. By virtue of the laminations, the stress is taken out of the wood. Since the wood is stress-relieved, you don't have to spend as much time taking the wood down to size. This means you can work the wood sooner without fear of warping and the cue stays straighter in the field.
