Hormigo can range in color from reddish brown complimented by dark brown/black streaks (Hormigo Negro) to a satiny reddish-orange, similar to that of Bloodwood (Hormigo Rojo).While Hormigo Rojo and Hormigo Negro are somewhat different in appearance, the trees are identical on the outside and cannot be differentiated until they are cut down and milled.
