Premium Quality Tapered Shafts
Using Champeau Canadian hard rock maple, we taper the 1" Maple and Roasted Maple dowels over a 6-7 week time frame, allowing 1 week wood rest between cuts. This process allows us to hold a tolerance of 0.00" - .020" using a lathe and dial indicator. The final cut is at .010" to allow a smooth finish on the shafts.
Easy to Customize
Final Tapered Shafts are easy to customize to your specific needs as we leave them appx. .250" oversized. They come in 13mm, 13.5mm pro taper and 12mm Euro taper , so you can find the perfect match for your cue. Plus, with their oversized finish, you can add your own custom taper to match your cue or personal likes.
Designed for Maximum Power
With Final Tapered Shafts, you can generate maximum power with every shot. The gradual taper provides increased energy transfer, resulting in a more powerful hit. The smooth, even the taper helps reduce deflection, giving you greater accuracy and precision on the table.
In order to grade our tapered shafts as A+, we grade them as follows:
- Straight grain - we do not allow run-out on any A-grade shaft or better.
-
We actively monitor the surface for mineral marks. Any surfaces or playing ends of shafts with mineral marks will receive a downgrade below grade A.
- If Mineral marks appear after machining it is just the nature of working with wood. When we taper batches of shafts, some are downgraded and others are tossed - it is the nature of the business; expect a 10% average loss as working costs of the material.
- No pin knots or hard spots
- Sugar marks are kept at a minimum; not allowable on last 1/3 of playing end.
*Shafts are .25-.50mm oversized so that they will finish at the given sizes after sanding.
